The 2025 Home Energy Specialist Offsite Event

At HomeWorks Energy, our people are our power, and nowhere was that more evident than at our recent off-site event, where we gathered to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our Home Energy Specialists (HESs). The energy was high, the camaraderie was strong, and the recognition was well deserved.

Spencer Haldeman Cody Pontes 2025 HES Offsite

“The HES Annual Offsite is a time for all the HomeWorks energy specialists in the state to come together, celebrate impressive yearly accomplishments, and share strategies for success,” said Spencer Haldeman, HomeWorks’ Vice President of Home Energy Assessments. “It’s an event where a newer HES just on the brink of figuring out the job can walk out with the confidence and wisdom from the team’s highest performers, while a more tenured HES can walk out with fresh tools to add to their arsenal.”

The Home Energy Specialist Offsite was a high-energy day of connection, celebration, and updates—including team shoutouts, awards for Manager and Home Energy Specialist of the Year, inspiring guest speakers, and exciting department milestones. From getting to know teammates to diving into company updates and training, the event wrapped with a raffle and Q&A over lunch.

One key feature that makes this event so effective and unique is that the managers meticulously select which Home Energy Specialists sit next to each other so that the right conversations can happen.

“The goal is for everyone –whether they’re new to the job or a seasoned vet – to have a great time and get better, and, most importantly, get to know each other beyond just names on a leaderboard,” Spencer explained.

Roasts, Rivalry, and Recognition

Kicking things off with a perfect blend of humor and heart, Spencer brought the house down as he introduced and (lightly) roasted our managers. From poking fun at ChatGPT overuse to referencing high-stakes performance meetings, his sharp wit set the tone for a fun and celebratory day.

Regional Pride on Full Display

This year’s team shout-outs were some of the most spirited yet. Our managers brought enthusiasm and pride as they highlighted standout performances from each region:

Home Energy Specialists Holding Awards at 2025 Offsite Event
  • James Marcello proudly shared that the North Shore team is leading in several key performance metrics—a testament to their hustle and cohesion.

  • Home Energy Specialist Senior Regional Manager Andrew Travis spotlighted the depth of experience on his team, which continues to be home to some of the most tenured Home Energy Specialists at HomeWorks.

  • Home Energy Specialist Field Manager Tyler Colavita gave a special nod to Mike Field, who went above and beyond by directly troubleshooting with Google to resolve challenges related to the newly released 4th-Gen Nest thermostats.

  • We also heard exciting updates from Home Energy Specialist Regional Manager James Conlon, who’s laying the groundwork for our expansion efforts in Connecticut.

“This event is always a much-needed break from the daily grind and gives everyone, including the managers, a little bit more perspective and rejuvenation to get back to it for the rest of the year,” Spencer said. “There were a lot of superheroes in one room!”

Honoring Individual Excellence

The 2025 Offsite also featured some exciting new updates, including two guest speakers from other departments: Adam Glenn, Vice President of Weatherization, and Brie Minarik, Director of Training and Safety, talked through building value on Heat Pumps for customers and next steps for CAP customers.

Capping off the event were the 2024 awards, including Mentor of the Year – a new addition this year.

Thank you to each and every Home Energy Specialist who worked hard and served as the face of HomeWorks Energy to residents across Massachusetts every day. A special round of applause goes to the following individuals whose work has made a meaningful impact on our mission to build a more sustainable commonwealth.
