Your House Loses Energy Two Ways:

Heat is lost  primarily through Conduction, passing straight through incomplete, missing, or incorrectly installed insulation. We use Infrared Camera and other visual inspection techniques to find the gaps in your house's insulation wrapper.
Convective loses, in which warm air leaks out the top of the house and cold is drawn in through the bottom, accounts for about 30% of heat loses. We use the Blower Door Test, along with IR cam, to scour your house for hidden heat-robbing leaks.

 The Services HomeWorks Energy Performs:

  • Insulation: Choose from blown-in cellulose, closed cell foam, and fiberglass batts in attics, walls and basements, depending on cost effectiveness.
  • Draft Sealing: We locate those drafts and air leaks using the Blower Door Test and Infrared Camera, and then seal them.
  • Energy Audits: A comprehensive top-to-bottom examination of your houses current insulation and energy consumptions, with recommendations based on cost-effectiveness and payback.  Have a look at one of our Energy Audit Reports: Report 1 Report 2
  • Thermostats: Installing programmable thermostats cuts heat demand by 5%.
    Furnaces
  • Heating system upgrades: We may recommend upgrading your furnace, or switching fuels.
  • Lighting: We change out your current high-demand incandescents for CFLs.
  • Windows: Replacing windows is low on the list of measures because of high cost. However, certain high-performance storm windows are recommended and can be installed.
