Merrimac Municipal Light Department is helping residents reduce energy usage, improve home comfort, and save on costs. The Town of Merrimac Light is partnering with HomeWorks Energy, a trusted Mass Save partner, to assist residents with natural gas in making their homes more efficient, starting with a no-cost Home Energy Assessment.

Beginning in February of 2025, HomeWorks Energy representatives will visit neighborhoods to invite homeowners and renters to schedule a no-cost Mass Save assessment. During the assessment, a Home Energy Specialist reviews a home’s energy performance and shows the homeowner how to save money and energy year-round.

If you don’t heat with natural gas, you can still benefit from this partnership. HomeWorks Energy also offers HealthyHome Checkups, a comprehensive home evaluation focused on comfort, efficiency, health, and safety. During the visit, our specialists assess your home’s overall performance and help identify practical improvements and next steps tailored to your home and goals.

Benefits of a No-Cost Mass Save Home Energy Assessment

  • Weatherization recommendations and incentives, which could include 100% off air leak sealing and 75-100% off insulation upgrades
  • Free heat pump/ductless mini split consultation and up to $8,500 in rebates to heat and cool your home more efficiently

What to Expect from a Home Energy Assessment

We’ll work with your utility provider to get approval for the Home Energy Assessment. If we need more information from you for the approval, we’ll call you within 24 hours.

HES

Your Home Energy Specialist will be at your home at your scheduled time and will begin your Assessment. The assessment typically takes between 2-3 hours.

You will learn how your home consumes and loses energy and you’ll receive a custom home energy report, along with other recommendations to save like insulation or air sealing upgrades.

You get access to all eligible benefits like 75-100% off insulation, 100% off air sealing, 0% financing, up to $16,000 in heat pump rebates, and no-cost items.
