Introducing the Beverly & Salem Energy Challenge

The Cities of Beverly and Salem have launched a new initiative, the Beverly & Salem Energy Challenge, to encourage home energy efficiency and expand access to the incentives offered by the Mass Save® Sponsors. This project focuses on energy efficiency measures such as weatherization and heat pump technology to help you save money and feel more comfortable at home year-round, all while reducing our community’s carbon footprint.

Beverly and Salem residents recently received a letter officially announcing the Energy Challenge, which you can view here: Beverly & Salem

We are Resilient Together

The Beverly and Salem communities are not only connected by bridges, but we are united by a commitment to make our neighborhoods greener, one building at a time. One of the most important goals from our Beverly & Salem Resilient Together climate action plan is to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030. Through the planning process, we learned that more than 50% of our greenhouse gas emissions come from heating, cooling, and powering our buildings.

The Cities are participating in the Mass Save Community First Partnership, sponsored locally by National Grid, to help residents access energy efficiency programs.

Energy Reduction Goals & Progress

Our joint Energy Challenge aims to facilitate 2,000+ Home Energy Assessments, resulting in 700+ insulation upgrades, 250+ heat pump installations, and a substantial reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from the buildings sector. Last year we performed 1,035 assessments and upgraded insulation in 345 homes, thanks to our engaged community members. Let’s keep the momentum going and save even more energy and money on our path to carbon neutrality.
