MassCEC Awards Grant Funds to Support Massachusetts’ Climate Goals
HomeWorks Energy is proud to announce that we have received a significant grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) to expand our clean energy workforce training initiatives and help strengthen Massachusetts’ clean energy economy.
As part of MassCEC’s Climate-Critical Workforce Training, Equipment, and Infrastructure program, this funding will support the expansion of HomeWorks University into the HomeWorks Partner Academy, a bold initiative designed to equip a more diverse, skilled workforce with the tools and training needed to meet Massachusetts’ Net-Zero emissions targets by 2050.
Beyond Policy: Investing in People and Upskilling the Clean Energy Workforce

Massachusetts has set ambitious climate goals, but reaching them requires more than policy; it requires people. Specifically, the Commonwealth must invest in a robust, inclusive workforce capable of weatherizing homes, installing heat pumps, and helping communities transition to cleaner energy. This grant is designed to accelerate that work.

Unlike most grant recipients—typically schools or workforce boards—HomeWorks Energy is one of only a few direct employers to receive this funding.
That’s because we’re not only training our own team; we’re extending these resources to our partners—the contractors, technicians, and administrators who are essential to delivering energy-efficiency and electrification services across the Commonwealth.
This investment in workforce development will amplify the grant’s impact across Massachusetts’ entire residential energy ecosystem.

Simply put, training is expensive. We are already proud to provide the most extensive employee training programs in our industry, yet we know we have room to grow. This grant money is going to help us fill the existing gaps and take HomeWorks and our partners to the next level of quality and success.

Introducing the HomeWorks Energy Partner Academy
The HomeWorks Partner Academy will provide training in heat pump technologies, HVAC servicing, carpentry, and building science. Participants will also benefit from expanded safety training, DEI-focused support, English-language learning, and wraparound services like mileage reimbursement and an emergency fund for trainees facing hardship. Two new classrooms and upgraded HVAC lab equipment will increase training capacity.
Over the next few years, HomeWorks aims to train at least 250 individuals, with at least 60% coming from priority populations, including Environmental Justice neighborhoods, low-income communities, and historically underserved groups.

By investing in people (not just systems) we’re helping to build a clean energy workforce that is skilled, supported, and ready to lead Massachusetts into a Net-Zero future.
